The second week of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta begins on September 22, offering players a chance to test the highly-anticipated upcoming FPS. The reboot of 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release on October 28, making this multiplayer beta one of the last chances for players to get their hands on the game before launch.
While the first week of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta, which ran from September 16-20, was only available to PlayStation players, the second week will be open to all players. Firstly, all PlayStation players, as well as players who have preordered on Xbox, Steam, or Battle.Net, will gain access to the beta on September 22 and 23. Then, on September 24-26, the beta will become available to all players on those platforms, regardless of preorder.
How to Join the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta
Joining the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 open beta, which will run from September 24 to September 26, is extremely straightforward. All players need to do is search for the open beta client on their platform's store, and download the game before the beta ends on September 26.
However, for those players who have preordered the game, the process to join the early access beta on September 22 and 23 is a little more complicated. Along with their preorder, players will also receive a beta code from their retailer that they can use to download the beta client:
- Redeem the beta code at callofduty.com
- Select a chosen platform and local region
- Receive a confirmation code, which can be entered into the chosen platform's store to unlock the beta
- Begin the beta download
The beta download will be around 15-30 GB, depending on platform and region. Once PC, Xbox or PlayStation players have the beta client downloaded, all they need to do is wait until September 22 at 10am PDT to start playing. (6pm BST, 7pm CEST, 1pm EDT)
What is included in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta

- Knock Out
- Search and Destroy
- Ground War
These game modes will be playable across a variety of new maps, including:
- Farm 18

By earning XP and reaching new levels in beta, players will be able to unlock permanent rewards in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These range from an Animated Emblem at level 2, all the way to the Frontal Impact Weapon Blueprint at Level 30. All rewards unlocked during the beta will be immediately available when the game launches on October 28.
