When Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stepped back as working Royals and moved to America, William didn't just lose a brother, he lost his best friend. To this day, he cannot forgive Harry, not least because of the consequences for his wife, Kate, and for their children. KATIE NICHOLL's new book claims the late Queen was surprised by Meghan's wedding dress choice, that she had to step in and that royal brother's rift remains damaged. If the departure of the Sussexes has been hurtful and upsetting to William on a personal level, the rift between the brothers has raised fundamental questions about the responsibilities of Royalty, about its purpose and value in the modern age. And it will be down to the future King William and Queen Catherine to provide the answers.

Ron DeSantis declares emergency for ENTIRE STATE of Florida, over forecast predicting Tropical Storm Ian will strengthen into 'major hurricane' and smash into the Sunshine State next week

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Saturday declared a state of emergency for the state as Ian gathers strength over the Caribbean. It's expected to bring heavy rain, intense hurricane winds to the state next week. DeSantis initially issued the emergency order for two dozen counties on Friday but has now expanded the warning to the entire states 67 counties. Residents and local governments will now prepare for a storm that could lash large swaths of Florida. Ian is forecast to rapidly strengthen in the coming days before moving over western Cuba and making landfall in Florida in the middle of next week. Storm could begin hitting southern Florida late on Monday or Tuesday morning. It is first expected to hit Jamaica, Cuba and the Cayman Islands. Storm has forced NASA to call off the scheduled Tuesday launch of its historic uncrewed mission to the Moon. The animation above shows a projected path for Ian that sees it hit Florida.

Family of Jeffrey Dahmer's 11th victim slams Netflix's reenactment of victim's sister's emotional 1992 courtroom breakdown - say streaming giant has 'retraumatized' them by failing to notify them it was making the series

Eric Thulhu, 33. of Chicago, took to Twitter to denounce Netflix's new series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, claiming his family is 'p*ssed' about it. Thulhu's cousin Errol Lindsey was 19 when he disappeared from a Milwaukee mall and would become Dahmer's 11th known victim. 'If you're actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell's) are pissed about this show,' Thulhu wrote. 'It's retraumatizing over and over again.' Rita Isbell screamed at a passive Dahmer in the courtroom in 1992, calling him 'Satan' and saying she wanted to 'kill' him. Palace aides believed that the Duchess of Sussex was deliberately laying a 'trail of evidence' as she carefully plotted her departure from the Royal Family, a new book claims. It alleges that her aides - who named themselves the 'Sussex Survivors' Club' after Meghan and Harry quit their roles - called the Duchess a 'narcissistic sociopath'. Extracts of Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown by Valentine Low were published by The Sunday Times last night. Core members of the Survivors' Club included Samantha Cohen (pictured with the Duchess, middle) - whom the Queen had personally asked to step in as the couple's private secretary and who worked for the Sussexes from after their wedding in May 2018 until the end of their South Africa tour in September 2019 - and Sara Latham, who was in charge of communications. Others included assistant press secretary Marnie Gaffney. Extracts claim that Ms Cohen, who had 17 years' experience of working at the Palace, would frequently say to Edward Young (bottom right), the Queen's private secretary, and Clive Alderton (top right), Charles's private secretary, that if it all went wrong, the Palace needed evidence of the duty of care it had shown to Harry and Meghan.

Palace aides take revenge on the 'Difficult Duchess': Insiders claim Meghan 'moaned she wasn't getting PAID for royal tours, agreed to Oprah interview SIX months before Megxit and reduced staff to tears with bullying and tantrums' - in bombshell new book

Explosive extracts of the forthcoming book, Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown by Valentine Low, were published by The Times today. The new book tells how during a royal tour of Australia in October 2018 (pictured), Meghan did not understand why she had to shake people's hands or do walkabouts. Staff reportedly heard her say: 'I can't believe I'm not getting paid for this.' It also describes the Duchess of Sussex's attitude towards her staff, describing a meeting where Meghan lambasted a young female member in front of colleagues over a plan she had presented. After the woman told her that it would be difficult to execute a new plan, Meghan said: 'Don't worry. If there was literally anyone else I could ask to do this, I would be asking them instead of you.' Meghan is said to have berated staff repeatedly, including one occasion when an employee fell foul of the duchess over a mixup involving press at an engagement. They said when they tried to call Meghan: 'She's not picking up. I feel terrified. 'This is so ridiculous. I can't stop shaking.' An insider said: 'There were a lot of broken people. Young women were broken by their behaviour.' They added that one staff member was 'completely destroyed' by their experience. Palace staff have claimed Meghan agreed to the couple's bombshell Oprah interview (top right) months before they left royal duties and moved to the US.

The study, from real estate firm Redfin, ranked the nation's most populous hubs using metrics such as prices, price drops, and supply - and found that the real estate market is cooling fastest primarily along the West Coast. Property prices along West Coast metropolitan areas are understood to be dipping because of a glut of properties on the market, amid a mass exodus of citizens deterred by rising mortgage rates, crime, and warnings of a looming recession. Costly Western locales that had seen their prices swell since the pandemic, such as San Diego and San Jose, helped round out the top 20 fastest-cooling cities, based on yearly changes in prices from February to August 2022. Also present were cities that surfaced as homebuying hotspots during the pandemic, such as Phoenix, Las Vegas and Dallas, whose markets have rapidly cooled as the recently surfaced advent of remote work continues to recede.

Jared Kushner condemns Ron DeSantis' 'very troubling' migrant flights to Martha's Vineyard - and his use of people as 'political pawns'

The former White House senior advisor appeared on the Fox weekday talk show, 'Outnumbered' on Tuesday expressing his criticism after he was shown clips of DeSantis discussing and defending his actions. On September 15, approximately two plane loads of migrants were flown into Martha's Vineyard and paid for by DeSantis. Approximately 50 migrants arrived at the exclusive New England area after traveling from San Antonio, Texas. Kushner said:  'We have to remember these are human beings.' 'They're people. So seeing them being used as political pawns one way or the other is very troubling to me,' he said. He then took the opportunity to denounce President Joe Biden's handling of the border, and praise former President Donald Trump's immigration policy. Kushner said that the focus should be on 'coyotes' - those people who smuggle migrants across the border for 'a lot of money.'

Zelensky tells Russians that panicking Putin is 'knowingly' sending citizens to their death to save face for his failing Ukraine war - as riot police arrest more than 700 protesters amid fears 1million men will be conscripted

In Russian, Zelensky (inset) called on Moscow's forces to surrender, saying: 'You will be treated in a civilised manner... no one will know the circumstances of your surrender'. It came just hours after Russia passed a law toughening punishments for voluntary surrender and desertion. A brave one-legged woman in a wheelchair who was shaming troopers leaving to join Vladimir Putin's army was surrounded by Russian riot police (video) on a day in which more than 700 anti-mobilisation protesters were arrested (left, top right). A powerful image of anti-mobilisation showed the woman, reportedly attending the peaceful protest in the Chistyye Prudy area of Moscow, holding a placard up to Putin's soldiers which translated as: 'Do you want to be like me?'. Video footage captured the moment that Russian riot police surrounded the brave woman in their numbers as they looked to crackdown on dissent against Putin's regime. The courageous woman with bright pink hair had unzipped her bag before pulling the shaming placard up as photographers descended on her before the riot police arrived. One Russian officer could later be seen holding the placard which appeared to have been removed from the woman after photographers had gathered around her. A rights group claimed that around 730 people were detained across Russia at protests against the mobilisation order today, just three days after Putin ordered Russia's first military draft since World War Two for the conflict in Ukraine.
